Crispy Crunchy Tofu Fries

These tofu fries are everything you want in a snack or even a full meal. They taste like Burger King chicken fries and require almost no effort. A perfect protein to meal prep or make for a fun weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 15 ounces extra firm tofu drained
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon each dried rosemary, dried thyme and red pepper flakes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons sunflower oil for pan-frying

Instructions

  • Cut the tofu into "fry" shapes, about 1 cm in width and 8 cm in height. Spread them out evenly on a paper towel on a rimmed baking sheet, top with another paper towel and then top with something heavy, either another baking sheet or books. Press for only 5-7 minutes.
  • While the tofu is pressing, combine the nutritional yeast, spices, salt and pepper in a shallow dish.
  • Coat each piece of tofu generously in the nutritional yeast mixture. Pat with your hands to ensure it sticks.
  • Set a skillet on medium heat and let it come to temperature. Add in the sunflower oil and pan-sear the tofu in batches, cooking about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the tofu is brown and crispy.
  • ***You can also make the tofu in the oven or air fryer, just roast at 425°F for 10 minutes, flip and then roast another 10-15 minutes or until crispy.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauces :)
