Miso Basil Chili Oil

This chili oil recipe takes inspiration from multiple traditional chili oil methods and combines them into one quick, umami-packed sauce. It only takes five minutes and will be your new favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup thai basil chopped
  • 3 tbsp scallion finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 tbsp sambal oelek or red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup sunflower oil

Instructions

  • Add all the ingredients except the oil to a heat-safe bowl.
  • In a saucepan, heat the oil until it is around 300F. Remove from the heat and pour over the ingredients.
  • Working quickly, whisk together the oil and the ingredients to combine. It should be ready in minutes!
