My current go-to bagel order is a baked salmon salad on an everything bagel – sounds weird, but it’s delicious. But when I’m at home, I’m not the biggest mayo fan, so I was looking to make a version of this addicting baked salmon salad spread without having to use any of the mayo. Enter scene: Baked Salmon & Avocado Salad.
It’s creamy, rich, spicy and just filled with everything I love about a good baked salmon salad spread. You can find out more here on how I make my favorite bagel order.

What is baked salmon salad?
Originally, baked salmon salad is very similar to tuna salad, but you can find it more commonly as a bagel spread. A baked salmon salad recipe traditionally has mayo, dill weed, celery, old bay seasoning and garlic powder.
A bunch of things that are not my favorite.
So that’s the beauty of making a salmon salad spread that I could call my own. I wanted it to be healthy, filling, delicious and taste how I wanted it to taste. And that’s why we use avocado in this version!
Ingredients you will need for this salmon salad recipe
Let’s be honest, it’s the weekend and you don’t want to be cooking breakfast, but just merely *assembling* breakfast. Here are all the ingredients (and leftovers lol) that I recommend you use when making this recipe:

- 1/2 small shallot, diced
- 1/4 cup flat-leaf parsley, minced

How to make this baked salmon salad spread with avocado
It’s breakfast, so when we’re making this salmon salad with avocado, let’s keep things simple. Use leftovers to your advantage and make sure that everything is super low maintenance. Here are my quick-and-dirty instructions for your weekend brunch:
- Use a large flat surface, like a cutting board, and add the salmon, avocado, shallot, parsley, mustard, sambal and lemon zest.
- Use a fork to mash all the ingredients together until you get the consistency of a baked salmon salad spread. Think of it as well combined and creamy, but still slightly chunky.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste and mash again.
- Toast your bagel and top with the salmon spread.
- Serve whenever!
